INTERNSHIP CELL (I-CELL)
A brief outline about the functioning of Internship Cell (I-Cell):
- I-Cell should be set up/rearranged at the beginning of the academic year.
- Appropriate steps should be taken to select projects keeping in mind the needs of the local industry.
- I-Cell should make efforts to find additional institutes/establishments every year to provide better opportunities to the students. Also, try to reach out to the preferred institutions of the students.
- Steps should be taken to establish long-term collaboration with industrial organizations and MOU's on behalf of the institute to provide internships.
- Creation of a digital portal to register subject experts, industries, organizations, mentors, & faculty members. The portal should be accessible to the students.
- Internship preparatory programs should be conducted throughout the year. Information about programs will be given to students through e-mail and other means. Reference books, sample questions, concept tests (mock tests) should be distributed among the students.
- Student coordinators should assist in scrutinizing the personal information forms in consultation with faculty at the department/faculty level at the beginning of the academic session.
- I-Cell will help in selecting a mentor/supervisor for the students or the student will select a mentor through his/her network.
- The I-Cell will act as a liaison between the Internship providing Institution and the students, and will be responsible for resolving student queries related to internship. I-cell shall prepare the report on the student’s Internship Program.
- I-Cell will be the first point of contact, and shall play active in answering queries/processes. and processes.
- Apart from this, the I-Cell will help the students in:
- Personality development,
- Improvement of communication skills /vocabulary,
- Resume preparation / e-mail writing, group discussions, interview skills, aptitude training and practice tests, technical report writing, presentation skills, foreign language proficiency etc.
- I-Cell will ensure that the Evaluation of Internship of students is as per the National Higher Education Plan as directed by the Government and UGC by maintaining a uniform record.
Evaluation of Internship:
After completion of the internship students are to prepare a comprehensive report highlighting what they have learned during the internship period. This report will be signed by the Internship Supervisor, Nodal Officer/TPO and Mentoring Teacher. Students will be required to give a seminar based on their internship experience before an expert committee constituted by the concerned department as given in the internship evaluation form. Interns will be evaluated on the basis of performance recorded in the student register.
Interim assessment will be based on the following criteria:
- Quality and effectiveness of presentation
- Depth of knowledge and practical skills
- Diversity and representation in learning experiences
- Practical application of the concepts taught in the course
- Internship report
Presentations in seminars will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between students and teachers, and enhance communication skills and confidence among students. The Internship evaluation will be within the purview of concerned Head of Department and Nodal Officer/TPO. Grades will be given on the basis of total marks obtained by students during evaluation.
