About Department
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. As the Head of the Department, I am excited to share our commitment to excellence in education, research, and innovation in these cutting-edge fields.
The department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) was established during the academic year 2021-22 with an intake of 60. The department is approved by the AICTE, New Delhi, and is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
Artificial Intelligence: Is a human-like intelligence provided to machines where machines act and think as humanly & solve problems faster than humans. Speech recognition, translation tools, etc., are the building areas of AI. Is the implementation of a predictive model to forecast future events and trends, Automation of the process & uses machine learning techniques.
Data Science: Data science is a collection of data to analyze and make a decision. It uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and insights from many structural and unstructured data. Is a detailed process that mainly involves pre-processing analysis, visualization, and prediction with a high degree of scientific processing & extensive tools will be used to process the data uses the technique of data analysis and data analytics.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is a new branch of study that deals with scientific methodologies, processes, and techniques drawn from different domains like statistics, cognitive science, and computing and information science to extract knowledge from structured data and unstructured data. This knowledge is applied in making various intelligent decisions in business applications. AI&DS focuses on collecting, categorizing, analyzing and interpreting data. It is a specialized branch that deals with the development of data-driven solutions, data visualization tools and techniques to analyse big data. It also incorporates the concepts of machine learning and deep learning model building for solving various computational and real-world problems.

Data science combines statistical tools, methods, and technology to generate meaning from data. Artificial Intelligence takes this one step further and uses the data to solve cognitive problems commonly associated with human intelligence, such as learning, pattern recognition, and human-like expression.
Data science involves analyzing data to determine underlying patterns and points of interest for making predictions. Applied data science takes the models and methods used in data analysis and applies these to new data in real-world situations to give probabilistic outputs.
By this course, the students will gain cross-disciplinary skills across fields such as mathematics for Artificial Intelligence, statistics for Data Processing & Analysis, Computer Science for developing machine learning applications, and Mechatronics for realizing real-world solutions.
